Don’t you find acronyms frustrating? At Reset Families, we built our parenting approach on a PBIS Framework and want to make sure that you not only know what those letters stand for, but why we believe that is important.
PBIS, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), is an evidence-based framework for developing positive behavior changes, used in schools nationwide to create a positive climate for learning. Reset Families takes that framework and adapts it to the home environment.
We believe that teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding kids with verbal praise as well as tangible rewards for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding.
Modeled after the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system used in schools throughout the country, and drawing on the principles of trauma informed parenting, Reset Families will help parents and caregivers discover a strategic approach for parenting that helps to build strong relational connections while preparing kids to be accountable for managing their behavior regardless of their life experiences.
The insight and practical toolkit this book provides will not only help you make it through the day, but will help you create a family culture and solid foundation that helps your family to thrive rather than just survive. You will find activities and games to help kids feel heard and understood as you work together to create the family of your hopes and dreams.
